Our Memorial Day weekend forecast looks pretty good across Minnesota this year. We’ll enjoy sunny to partly cloudy skies and seasonably cool temperatures. Watch for puffy white cumulus clouds to build in the afternoons.
We’re getting off lucky when it comes to rain. Most of the weekend looks dry, and that’s rare given Memorial Day weekend is climatologically our wettest of the three big summer holiday weekends in Minnesota.
Saturday morning will be frosty once again in much of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. A frost advisory is in effect. You may want to cover the new petunias in frosty areas.

* WHAT...Temperatures between 32 and 35 degrees will result in frost formation.
* WHERE...All of northwest Wisconsin and most of northeast Minnesota.
* WHEN...From 1 AM to 9 AM CDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
Highs this weekend feature mostly 60s across our region with a few spots touching the 70-degree mark.
Warmer air looks likely to push in later next week. Highs will reach the 70s by next Thursday.
Forecast models hint at 80 degrees by the last days of May.
