The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Storm Prediction Center has issued a tornado watch for much of Minnesota.
The watch zone includes the greater Twin Cities area. Storms with large hail, damaging winds and possible tornadoes are likely in the watch zone:

55 PM CDT Mon Jun 16 2025 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Tornado Watch for portions of Central Minnesota Western Wisconsin
* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 255 PM until 900 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include... A couple tornadoes possible Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter likely Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will intensify this afternoon near a cold front sweeping eastward across the Minnesota, with a few supercells expected. Large hail is the main concern, but the strongest storms may also pose a risk of damaging winds and a few tornadoes. The tornado watch area is approximately along and 70 statute miles north and south of a line from 20 miles west of Alexandria MN to 80 miles northeast of Minneapolis MN.
