Minnesota state Sen. John Hoffman has been discharged from a hospital and moved to a rehabilitation facility as he continues his recovery from being shot and critically wounded in an attack at his home last month.
Hoffman’s family shared the update late Monday, along with a photo of the senator smiling and giving a thumbs-up as he gets ready to wheel a suitcase out.
A family spokesperson said that Hoffman “still has a long road to recovery ahead.”
Hoffman was shot nine times in the attack early on the morning of June 14 at the family's home in Champlin. His wife, Yvette, was also shot multiple times and continues to recover from her injuries.
The suspect in that attack, 57-year-old Vance Boelter, is also charged in the fatal shootings of Minnesota House DFL leader Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark at their Brooklyn Park home the same night.
Boelter faces state and federal charges in the shootings. He appeared in federal court last Thursday and waived his right to probable cause and detention hearings.
