Every summer, bikers flock to the Root River State Trail. It’s a 42-mile route that winds along Minnesota’s Root River between Harmony and Houston.
The ride promises beautiful sights — and a delicious treat. Along the path is a pie joint in the tiny town of Whalan called Aroma Pie Shoppe.
Aroma Pie Shoppe can serve as many as 100 pies baked from scratch on its busiest days, including blueberry peach and lemon layer pies. The crowd favorite is banana cream pie.
“It's got to be on the menu or we're going to hear all about it,” said Karna Hudoba, who has run the shop for ten years.
The shop still has several weeks left before their “season” ends around Labor Day, which means plenty more pies to bake and serve up.
