We can’t draw it up much better for a holiday weekend in Minnesota.
Pleasant temperatures for outdoor activities and plenty of sunshine will be the rule this weekend. The exception to the rule features just a few isolated thundershowers covering about 10 percent of Minnesota this weekend. Most of us will stay dry this weekend.
NOAA’s surface map forecast shows most of Minnesota under the influence of weak “fair weather” high pressure over the Great Lakes this weekend.
Highs this weekend will run mostly in the 70s with a few 80s Saturday in the Red River Valley and northwest Minnesota.

Taste of fall next week
The first week of September features a potent cold front blowing south through Minnesota next Tuesday night. Expect a few shower and thunderstorms as the front pushes through. Then get ready for temperatures to run 15 to 25 degrees colder by next Wednesday.
Lows by Thursday morning will dip into the 30s once again in the north with brisk 40s covering most of Minnesota.
Highs Wednesday Thursday afternoon will hover in the 50s north and 60s elsewhere.
Temperatures should moderate again after that. NOAA’s latest week 3 to 4 temperature outlook released Friday slightly favors warmer than normal temperatures for Minnesota.
