We’re getting some bonus summer weather in Minnesota this September. The weather maps look more July as we head into the upcoming weekend.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Forecast System model shows an unseasonably strong warm ridge of high pressure building across the Upper Midwest. The forecast model loop below runs between 7 a.m. Wednesday and 7 p.m. Friday.
Highs Wednesday will rise into the 70s under sunshine across much of Minnesota.
Highs soaring into the 80s and dew points rising into the sticky 60s to tropical 70s may give us a little seasonal amnesia in the coming days.
On the map below, you can see the late-season tropical moisture feed pumping high dew points into Minnesota as we head toward the upcoming weekend.
So it’s going to feel a little tropical out there one more time as we head into the upcoming weekend. You may not be done with your AC unit just yet. And remember when we hit 85 degrees last Oct. 21?
