Welcome to fog season in Minnesota.
Increasing darkness allows temperatures to cool longer overnight. As temperatures fall to the dew point, saturation and condensation occur and a clouds form at and near ground level where we live. That’s called fog.
Many of us will see fog once again Thursday morning. The thickest fog should develop in the north. Dense fog advisories are up for all of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. They could be expanded later Wednesday night if fog deepens further southward.
Including the cities of Ashland, Two Harbors, Bayfield, Isabella, Duluth, Grand Marais, Superior, Washburn, and Silver Bay

...DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 11 AM CDT THURSDAY...
* WHAT...Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
* WHERE...In Minnesota, Carlton, South St. Louis, Cook and Lake Counties. In Wisconsin, Ashland, Bayfield, and Douglas Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Red Cliff Band, the Fond du Lac Band, the Grand Portage Reservation and the Bad River Reservation. Other locations including the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and Madeline Island. This also includes the Boundary Waters eastern and central area.
* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 11 AM CDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
The good news is sunshine will burn the fog off again and sunnier afternoons with blue skies will return.
Highs will warm into the 80s by the upcoming weekend.
Dew points will climb into the sticky 60s and possibly approach the tropical feeling 70-degree mark this weekend.
It’s a beautiful weather pattern for Minnesota over the next week overall.
