Steamy September weekend continues: 90 degrees in the south with tropical dew points

We’re getting another taste of summer in Minnesota on this mid-September weekend.
Minnesota is riding the northern edge of an unseasonably warm and humid summerlike air mass. Temperatures in the 90s oozed into southwest Minnesota Saturday afternoon.
And dew points have reached tropical levels. I see dew points in the 70s across much of southern Minnesota.
Here are some select dew point readings Saturday afternoon.

Steamy Sunday
Sunday will bring another unseasonably hot and humid day. Look at the tropical dew point pool washing across most of southern Minnesota through Sunday. Dew points in the mid-70s may reach the Twin Cities Sunday afternoon!
Highs Sunday will push into the upper 80s to near 90 once again across southern Minnesota.
And the warmth will persist through much of next week. We’ll have a better chance for scattered rain and thunderstorms between next Tuesday and Thursday.
It looks like a cold front late next week could bring cooler temperatures to Minnesota with highs in the 50s north to 60s south. But overall the weather pattern looks mild the next 1-2 weeks. NOAA’s 8 to 14-day outlook favors warmer than normal temperatures overall as we move into late September.
