Our weather picture is gradually improving across Minnesota over the next week.
Friday’s scattered rain and thundershowers have been the most numerous this week. Local downpours have been heavy late Friday afternoon. Many areas west and north of the Twin Cities have picked up a couple inches of rain in the past few days.
Decent weekend ahead
I’ll give the upcoming weekend 6 of 10 Weather Lab stars. Pleasant temperatures and fewer showers will allow us to get in most of our outdoor activities this weekend. Afternoon high temperatures this weekend will peak in the 70s south and 60s north.
Rainfall looks very scattered with just about 10 percent of Minnesota covered in showers at any given moment. Most of us will stay on the drier side this weekend but there will be a few isolated showers roaming around.

Beautiful next week
Next week is shaping up to be one of the nicer weeks of the lingering warm season in Minnesota.
High pressure sitting over Lake Superior will feed a pleasant and slightly drier air flow into Minnesota most of next week. Some patchy morning fog gives way to sunnier skies later in the mornings and afternoons.
Highs will run mostly in the 70s next week with 60s near the North Shore.
Dew points next week will be a little direr and more comfortable running mostly in the 50s. Outlooks favor above-normal temperatures overall for the next two weeks.
The longer range outlooks suggest a possible brisk cold front as we head toward early October.
