The autumnal equinox occurred at 1:19 p.m. Central Daylight Time Monday. We’re now officially into the astronomical fall season.

Fall is morning fog season for many areas, especially around Lake Superior. A dense fog advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning for most of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.

Here’s the National Weather Service bulletin:

The weather maps this week look likely to delver one of the finest weather weeks of the year to Minnesota overall. Morning fog will give way to sunny and blissfully mild afternoons as the week rolls out.

Highs will gradually rise through the 70s this week across most of Minnesota. 

By Friday, temperatures will soar into the summery 80s once again in southern Minnesota!

Enjoy this beautiful first week of autumn around most of Minnesota. It just doesn’t get much better.
