It’s an Arizona breeze blowing across Minnesota these days.
Ninety degrees is the normal high for Tucson, Ariz., in early October. It looks like many locations in southern Minnesota will reach or exceed the 90-degree mark Friday and Saturday.
Look for plenty of sunshine and gusty south winds, especially Saturday. Temperatures will feel more like July than early October. Highs Friday afternoon will push well into the 80s all the way to the Canadian border!
Saturday brings another near-record temperature map to Minnesota.

October reality check next week
Next week finally brings a (temporary?) October temperature reality check to Minnesota. A strong cold front will sweep across Minnesota Sunday from northwest to southeast.
Temperatures will be cooler in the 60s north, but we’ll hit the 80s again in the Twin Cities before the front rides through Sunday evening. A few rain showers may clip northwestern Minnesota, but the front looks mainly dry for most of the rest of Minnesota Sunday.
Temperatures next week will revert to seasonal norms. Highs will crash into the 50s north and 60s south.
There is a chance of a few rain and snow showers along the Canadian border in northern Minnesota Tuesday with a secondary front.
Widespread frost looks likely by next Wednesday morning in central and northern Minnesota. The Twin Cities urban core will likely dip into the upper 30s degrees next Wednesday morning. But temperatures in the lower 30s and frost in the suburbs is quite possible.
The average date for the first 32 degree temperature of the fall at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is Oct. 18.
The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model currently suggests temperatures back to near 70 degrees in the Twin Cities by next Friday with 80s possible by Saturday, Oct. 11 before the next cold front pushes through on that Sunday.
Longer range outlooks suggest we may not be done with 70s or even 80 degrees just yet this fall and that October will likely end up warmer than average overall.
