Sorry beverage fans, the rumors aren’t true. Despite several social accounts, websites and news organizations reporting that Taco Bell is opening two Live Más Café locations in Minnesota, it turns out the claim is unfounded.
According to Taco Bell itself, no Live Más Café’s are opening anytime soon in the North Star State.
“At this time, there are no planned Live Más Café openings in Minnesota, as Taco Bell continues to focus its Live Más Café rollout in Southern California and Texas, as announced earlier this year,” a statement shared by the business with MPR News reads.
The first locations of the new Live Más Café concept, a beverage-focused brand of the late-night snacks empire “drawing from Southern California’s Mexican-inspired cafés and cafés in Mexico City,” opened in California last year. The cafe has dozens of signature drinks including specialty coffees, “Churro Chillers” and “Dirty Mountain Dew® Baja Blast® Dream Sodas,” with the full Taco Bell menu available.

The Development Tracker, a website covering real estate development, was the first to report the news on Oct. 4. News outlets then cited business plans in Rochester and Lakeville for an expansion of the chain assumed to be Live Más Café, but Taco Bell confirmed the new locations in Minnesota will actually be “Kitchen X,” a new restaurant design with an open kitchen and 24-hour lobby access.
Border Foods, a Minnesota-based franchise owner of Taco Bell, confirmed the Kitchen X designs will open in Rochester and Lakeville by the end of 2026.
Minnesota also doesn’t have a Taco Bell Cantina, another concept that serves alcohol. But we’re still home to one distinctive Taco Bell location. In 2022, Brooklyn Park opened the nation’s first two-story, four-lane drive-thru Taco Bell Defy restaurant.
