The shadows of a young Venezuelan woman with her two children, who migrated to the United States two years ago to claim asylum, are cast on the sidewalk on September 12, in Chicago. Last year her partner was deported after a traffic stop for not having a valid driver’s license, and she now hopes to reunite with him in Colombia with her children but is unable to obtain a passport. In the meantime, increased ICE raids and detainments have left her fearful to go outside, and she lives in a state of hiding until she can determine her next steps.
