September felt like a second August with temperatures around 5 degrees warmer than normal. October was downright balmy through the first 19 days with temperatures about 8 degrees warmer than normal. A record high of 91 degrees in the Twin Cities on Oct. 2?
A faded memory now.
Seasonal weather pattern shift
Our weather pattern has finally swerved into the inevitable seasonal temperature crash. Temperatures around Minnesota on this October Tuesday are staggering through the 40s. You can see shades of blue pouring south on Tuesday’s temperature map below.

Freezing mornings this week
Low temperatures will dip into the 20s north and 30s south from Wednesday through Friday mornings. Thursday and Friday mornings will be the coldest with temperatures near the freezing mark at 32 degrees in the Twin Cities.
You’ll likely want to clip any lingering blooms to save them from the freezing temperatures this week.
Milder late week
Tuesday’s windy showers will give way to more sun and less wind as we move through the rest of this week.
High temperatures will recover into the 50s by Thursday.
As we move into the weekend, highs will approach 60 degrees once again in the Twin Cities.
