It’s finally here. That elusive fall color peak is almost here in parts of the greater Twin Cities and southern Minnesota.
Thursday’s Minnesota Department of Natural Resources fall color report shows color levels between 75 and 100 percent around parts of the Twin Cities. In the western Twin Cities, colors are in the 50 to 75 percent range in many communities.
I can confirm a mix of a few still partly green trees with plenty of color bursting out in many trees now at the Weather Lab in the southwest Twin Cities.
Colors in the northern half of Minnesota are now past peak in most areas. But in the south this should be the best weekend of the fall for fall for leaf peeping. Plenty of sunshine will help vibrant colors pop this weekend. Highs will run in the upper 50s to lower 60s this weekend.
There are many fall events this weekend including at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen.
