Live results: Key elections in Minnesota

Results are still pouring in from Tuesday’s elections but here’s the latest in key races:

• The Minnesota Senate will keep its 34-33 split with DFLers in the majority, results from two key races show.

• In Minneapolis, Jacob Frey was elected to a third term as Minneapolis mayor. Frey’s main opponents were state Sen. Omar Fateh, minister DeWayne Davis and attorney Jazz Hampton. In the end, the race came down to Frey and Fateh in a second round of tabulation in the ranked choice election.

• St. Paul elected its first woman mayor early Wednesday morning. Rep. Kaohly Her won Tuesday’s election over incumbent Mayor Melvin Carter after a tabulation of second choice votes. She will also be the first Hmong American to hold the position.

In Wright County, Republican Michael Holmstrom Jr. and Democrat Louis McNutt are vying to fill the Senate seat left vacant after Republican Sen. Bruce Anderson died. Back to the top.

Democratic state Rep. Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger is vying against Republican Dwight Dorau, an Air Force veteran and teacher who has run in the district before. Back to the top.

There’s a crowded field vying for the Minneapolis Mayor’s office this election. There are 15 competitors — though not all of them are actively campaigning or fundraising for the position. Minneapolis - City Council Ward 1

Incumbent City Council member Elliott Payne has two challengers — Brian Strahan and Edwin B. Fruit — to his office representing Ward 1 of Minneapolis, which covers the northeast region of the city. Back to the top.

Minneapolis - City Council Ward 2

Covering an eastern part of Minneapolis, Ward 2 residents will choose between incumbent council member Robin Wonsley, Michael Baskins, Shelley Madore and Max Theroux. Back to the top.

Minneapolis - City Council Ward 3

Residents in Ward 3 of Minneapolis, which covers parts of downtown and northeast Minneapolis as well as the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood, will choose between current council member Michael Rainville and challenger Marcus Mills. Back to the top.

Minneapolis - City Council Ward 4

Residents of Ward 4 in north Minneapolis will pick between incumbent council member LaTrisha M. Vetaw, Leslie Davis and Marvina Haynes. Back to the top.

Minneapolis - City Council Ward 5

Six candidates are running for the city council seat that will be left open as current council member Jeremiah Ellison will not seek reelection to represent Ward 5 in north-central Minneapolis. The candidates are Miles G. Wilson, Anndrea Young, Ethrophic Burnett, Jovan Northington, Maurice L. Ward and Pearll Warren. Back to the top.

Minneapolis - City Council Ward 6

Incumbent Jamal Osman, who represents the central Minneapolis district of Ward 6, will face challenger Mohamoud Hassan for the seat on the city council. Back to the top.

Minneapolis - City Council Ward 7

Ward 7 covers the western edge of Minneapolis, including some areas of downtown and is currently represented by council member Katie Cashman. Cashman faces two challengers for the seat, Elizabeth Shaffer and Corey Ryan Vest. Back to the top.

Minneapolis - City Council Ward 8

The south central region of Minneapolis is represented by Ward 8 Council Member Andrea Jenkins, who is not seeking reelection. Residents will pick between four candidates to represent them on the council: Josh Bassais, Bob Sullentrop, Soren Stevenson and Philip Galberth. Back to the top.

Council member Aisha Chughtai faces two challengers, DeShanneon Grimes and Lydia Millard, to represent Ward 10. The ward covers a central Minneapolis district that sits east and northeast of Bde Maka Ska. Back to the top.

Residents in the south central ward are currently represented by council member Emily Koski, but Ward 11 voters will pick a new city council member from Jamison Witing, Mariam DeMello and Jim Meyer. Back to the top.
