Did you get outside Tuesday? I hope so. It looks quite possible Tuesday was the warmest day for the rest of the year in Minnesota.
Temperatures in the 60s were common in southern Minnesota. I saw 65 degrees in Granite Falls. The high temperature crawled up to 63 degrees in the Twin Cities Tuesday afternoon.
Minnesota rode the northern edge of one last relatively balmy air mass to the south Tuesday.
Rain showers are falling across northern Minnesota Tuesday night and could mix with some snowflakes in the northeast by Wednesday morning.

The rest of the week looks gradually cooler with highs in the 40s north to lower 50s south.
Wintry weekend feel
The upcoming weekend will feel more like winter than fall across Minnesota.
I’ve been watching a possible Saturday clipper system than may bring rain and snow showers to our region. Tuesday’s forecast model trends shoved the system further south and west. That would limit precipitation to the southwestern parts of Minnesota, mainly southwest of the Twin Cities.
The map below shows the latest European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model run for Saturday.
Saturday night brings the coldest temperatures of the season so far for parts of Minnesota. Temperatures will plunge into the low 20s for the Twin Cities area.
Sunday’s highs will struggle to reach the freezing mark in the south.
It’s a good time of year to remind us to pull those hoses and shut off water and drain hose bibs if you haven’t done so already!
There are signs we could warm up to around 50 degrees again by next Wednesday.
