‘Reminded of what we’ve lost’: Hortman tribute will be reminder to deescalate Capitol rhetoric

High school students from around the metro area convened in the Minnesota House of Representatives on Dec. 5 for a model Legislature event arranged by Metro State University. The desk of the late Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman is cordoned off in a memorial. It will remain that way through 2026 under an agreement by House leaders.
