Hennepin Healthcare's interim CEO, Dr. Thomas Klemond, stepped down Tuesday.
North Memorial Health's former CEO, Dr. J. Kevin Croston, and Hennepin County's former Administrator, David Hough, have been appointed co-interim administrators by the Hennepin Healthcare Board.
The Hennepin County Board dissolved the Hennepin Healthcare System Board in August 2025 due to a severe financial budget deficit and assumed interim oversight of the state’s largest safety-net hospital, HCMC. The board intends to begin a search for a permanent CEO later this year.
“As we move forward, the board recognizes the urgency of taking decisive action to stabilize our operations and enhance efficiencies, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional care to our community,” the board said in a statement thanking Klemond.
