Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty says her office has received “substantial” information from the public related to the killings of Renee Macklin Good and Alex Pretti.
“I expect that we will have enough evidence to decide whether charges are appropriate or not in both cases,” Moriarty told MPR News.
Moriarty’s office opened a public portal asking for evidence after local law enforcement was blocked from investigating both crime scenes.
Moriarty said she does not believe the federal government will pursue its own investigation of either case.
In another federal lawsuit, the state of Minnesota is seeking a temporary restraining order to stop the current immigration enforcement operation, and a ruling is expected in that case soon.
