Ramsey County is investigating misconduct by federal agents against U.S. citizens.
The county says it will take police reports from victims who say federal agents broke the law. And it's giving local law enforcement new guidelines for investigating those crimes.
In an interview with MPR News, Ramsey County Attorney John Choi said the Sheriff’s Office has one active investigation into federal agent conduct and two preliminary investigations.
“We are going to do everything that we can to get to the truth,” Choi said, “to hold people accountable and to uphold Minnesota law.”
Choi said the new guidelines were developed in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, given the “lack of cooperation” they are experiencing with the federal government.
Residents can report a crime by calling 911 or the non-emergency line where they live, and they are encouraged to provide video evidence when possible.
