Get ready for a weather smorgasbord over the next several days. We could see three seasons worth of weather in the next week in Minnesota.
It starts with a few lingering light rain and snow showers around Minnesota through Thursday night.
On the map below, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s NAM 3 km model tracks the trend with possible snow showers mainly north of the Twin Cities and light rain showers in the south.
The payoff for enduring another gray April evening is a sunny and cool but nice spring Friday. Light winds will make it feel pretty good out there Friday afternoon.
Springy weekend
This weekend looks springy. This time of year that means milder temperatures but also some April showers some possible thunder on the side.
On the map below, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model shows the general trend of a dry Saturday morning with scattered rain and thunder cells increasing Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.
If current forecast model trend hold, southern Minnesota will break out into a sunnier and much warmer air mass by Sunday afternoon. Highs in the 70s look likely and it could tickle 80 degrees late Sunday in southwestern Minnesota.
The summery preview lingers Monday and there could be a severe weather risk zone across southern Minnesota Monday afternoon.
