A man is dead after being shot by police in the city of Virginia, Minn.
Police said officers were called around 8:20 a.m. Friday to reports of a man pacing on 2nd Avenue South, wearing a ski mask and waving what appeared to be a handgun.
Officers said the man ignored commands to drop the object and then pointed it at them.
An officer fired, striking the man. Police took the man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No officers were injured. They will be placed on critical incident leave.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.
