Most areas of the state have seen at least four days of rain since June 12. However, despite the uptick in precipitation, there is still a footprint of drought as portions of north-central and southwest Minnesota missed out on the extra moisture.
“Overall we're still lagging behind normal in most areas of the state for the month of June,” climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley said. “We'll see how we end up by the end of the month, and hope for the best.”
Additionally, June has been much cooler than average. Seeley reported that climate stations around the state are seeing average temperatures 3 to 7 degrees below normal.
