June launched in a warm spot, glided into a cool streak and is expected to fly high into heat on Monday.
“Quite the roller coaster in June,” said meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley.
Despite these ups and downs, the monthly average was relatively normal, Seeley said. Most of Minnesota only saw temperatures 1 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit above normal. Rainfall over the month was also highly variable.
Despite climate stations reporting 12 or more days with rainfall, precipitation was typically light. According the U.S. Drought Monitor, both severe and moderate drought expanded during June.
