A 74-year-old man died in a plane crash at the Winona Municipal Airport on Thursday evening.
Winona police said the crash of the ultralight aircraft was reported just after 8 p.m.
“Upon arrival, officers located a small aircraft with a single occupant who was unresponsive,” police reported in a news release. “Officers and arriving personnel from Winona Fire and Winona Area Ambulance immediately began life-saving efforts.”
The pilot — identified by police as Wayne William Ledebuhr of Winona — died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Authorities have not released further details on the circumstances of the crash.
The crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
