While August as a whole ends in a near-normal average temperature range, the summer average was one of Minnesota’s hottest.
“It will be marked up in among the top 20 warmest in state history. There's no question about that,” said climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley.
That comes after multiple stretches of heat waves mixed with humid air and lack of precipitation. Minnesota’s most northern areas reached the highest temperatures ever recorded there.
For the Twin Cities alone this summer will go down as the fifth hottest in state records.
