A new film by a California-based filmmaker chronicles the actions of Minnesota neighbors and immigrants who faced Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents last winter.

Patrice O’Neill is the filmmaker and activist behind the film, “Minnesota Neighbors.” It’s part of a decadeslong movement spurred from a PBS documentary she created in 1995 called “Not in Our Town” about neighbors standing up to a series of hate crimes in Billings, Mont.

O’Neill said her latest documentary mirrored that piece.

“It resonated so deeply with me as I was looking at what was happening in Minnesota. It was again a community saying we cannot allow our town to be taken over.”

The film premieres at 7 p.m. at the Riverview Theater in Minneapolis.
