Temperatures touching 90 degrees felt like an October surprise last weekend in the Twin Cities, St. Cloud and other parts of Minnesota.

“And then the big crash. The winds turned around from the northwest, and we started to get cooler,” said climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley.

But the coolness won’t linger. After Sunday, temperatures are expected to warm again, although the heat won’t set records. Seeley told MPR News the El Niño weather pattern that’ll likely make for a mild winter is already leaving its signature in autumn.
