Bottoming out: Coldest in 10 years?

Barring a late update from the National Weather Service, it looks like we bottomed out at -23 degrees at MSP Airport this morning. If that stands, it will be the coldest day in 10 years at MSP Airport since the mercury hit -24 degrees on Jan. 30, 2004.

January thaw this weekend

Hang in there, the cold will gradually ease later this week. The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model is most optimistic about our chances for highs in the mid to upper 30s by Sunday.
