Periods of rain, thunder Friday night; summery weekend temps
Many areas will have some periods of rain and thunderstorms Friday evening and overnight into Saturday, with lower rain chances on Saturday. We have your weekend weather details, plus a look at the coming week.
Some showers, thunderstorms and much warmer Friday into the weekend
With much warmer and more humid air Friday we’ll have scattered showers and thunderstorms around. Highs will be near 80 south to the 60s north. The weekend will be very warm also.
Hottest September on record for the Twin Cities?
With just a couple days to go, September could finish as the hottest on record for the Twin Cities. Statewide, it is the hottest September, according to climatologist Mark Seeley. This year’s warmth was made much more likely due to climate change.
Chance for showers, thunderstorms overnight into Friday
Some showers and thunderstorms are possible late Thursday night into Friday morning as warmer and more humid air surges north. Highs will be well above normal Friday into the weekend.
Weekend weather: Summery temps; Saturday morning rain chance
We’ll have a flashback to summer this weekend. Some spots could see a passing shower or thunderstorm Saturday morning. Leaf-peepers have many options this weekend.
Drought conditions improve dramatically across Minnesota
Substantial rainfall in the past seven days had a really positive impact on Minnesota drought conditions, Thursday’s drought monitor report shows. Parts of the state will see a chance of thunderstorms on Friday.

Expect clouds to slowly decrease Thursday allowing temperatures to be a little warmer. Friday will be much warmer with highs near 80 south and the chance of thunder north and west.

We’ll see peeks of sunshine but skies will be mostly cloudy Wednesday with a few spotty showers still. Thursday will bring more sun later in the day ahead of a big weekend warmup.
Lingering clouds, few showers Wednesday; weekend warm up on track
Areas of cloud cover and even an isolated shower will continue Wednesday for much of central and southern Minnesota. Abundant sunshine will likely wait until Friday.
