Brutal cold eases Friday afternoon, then comes snow
By late Friday afternoon, most of the state should see temperatures in the teens, with some 20-degree readings in western Minnesota. Three clipper systems begin to sweep in Friday, bringing stretches of snow through Monday.
Warmer today, snow this evening
It’s another cold start in eastern Minnesota, where temps are again well below zero. Western Minnesota is above zero, and that upward trend will continue west to east. We should see afternoon temps in the teens. Snow showers start up Friday evening around 6 p.m. in the metro through about midnight with a fresh coating of snow.
Weekend forecast: Two batches of snow, cool temps
We aren’t expecting any big snowstorms this weekend, but we will have two opportunities to shovel a bit of snow. Temperatures will be cool, but not overly cold.
Cold Thursday, warmer Friday; snow Friday night
Bitterly cold temperatures should ease into the teens by late afternoon Friday. Three clipper systems in the coming days each bring a chance of some fresh fluffy snow.
Bitter cold eases this weekend
It’s another bitter cold morning early Thursday: temps are in the teens and negative 20s with wind chills in the negative 20s and 30s. We have another subzero night Thursday night. Temps modify this weekend, into the teens but also some light snow chances return Friday and Saturday nights.
Bright side: Minnesota rapidly gaining daylight now
Daylight is rapidly increasing now in Minnesota. Soon it will be light until 6 p.m. on clear evenings.
Arctic air arrives, subzero wind chills into Friday
The next two weeks deliver multiple shots of subzero arctic air into the Upper Midwest. The first shot came in with shocking speed. Temperatures could reach minus 30 in northern Minnesota Thursday morning.
