Mpls. pedestrian hit by bus reported conscious

The bus also struck a traffic pole and a some of the passengers on the bus reported minor injuries from the bus's sudden stop. The bus driver was also taken to HCMC for a medical evaluation and routine drug and alcohol testing.

A 15-year-old apparently wanted nothing more than to run away. But his success in slipping past layers of security early Sunday morning at San Jose International Airport made it clear that a determined person can still get into a supposedly safe area and sneak onto a plane.

Everest avalanche a reminder of risks Sherpas face

By Saturday evening, the bodies of 13 Sherpa guides had been taken from the mountain. Three more were missing, though few held out hope that they were still alive, 36 hours after Friday's avalanche. Four survivors had been flown to hospitals in Katmandu, Nepal's capital, where they were in stable condition. It was the deadliest disaster ever on Mount Everest.

A ferry carrying 459 people, mostly high school students on an overnight trip to a tourist island, sank off South Korea's southern coast on Wednesday, leaving nearly 300 people missing despite a frantic, hours-long rescue by dozens of ships and helicopters. At least four people were confirmed dead and 55 injured.
