Life has been anything but normal in the Red River Valley. In Fargo and Moorhead, businesses of all kinds have been closed for nearly a week. That makes it hard for customers, workers, and the bottom line.
Thousands of National Guard troops and airmen are working around the clock as part of the flood fighting effort in the Red River Valley. Among them are several hundred Minnesota soldiers.
Another four to five inches of snow is expected to fall in the Fargo -Moorhead area today. The snow is making it difficult to get around and monitor the dikes which are holding back flood waters from the Red River.
In a relatively new neighborhood in Moorhead's Oakport Township, there's a pocket of about 40 homes that are nearest the water. This is an area just north of the city of Moorhead along the Red River. City officials have issued a voluntary evacuation order, but residents say they will stay to fight for their homes even if they issue a mandatory one.
