Time spent in front of our computers, phones and tablets has skyrocketed during the pandemic. That’s especially true for children, whose pre-pandemic screen time was already high.

According to one recent survey of more than 3,000 parents, their kids’ screen time has doubled during the crisis. A pediatrician and a communications professor join host Angela Davis to talk about how this could be affecting children’s well-being and how to balance screen use.

Davis also checked in with MPR’s chief meteorologist Paul Huttner: Is the winter weather here to stay?

Guests:

  • Dr. Madeleine Gagnon is the associate medical director of pediatrics at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.

  • Aaron Boyson is an associate professor of communications at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

  • Paul Huttner is MPR’s chief meteorologist.
