A weeks-long downtrend in COVID-19 cases in Minnesota is promising. But a recent uptick is concerning. Is it just a blip, or a sign that the tide is turning, and not in a positive way?

MPR News host Angela Davis was joined by Kris Ehresmann, director of the Minnesota Department of Health’s Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Prevention and Control Division, to talk about the state’s next steps to combat the pandemic.

As of Saturday, nearly 60,000 Minnesotans have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, Gov. Tim Walz’s current restrictions on bars, restaurants and entertainment venues are set to expire on Jan. 10.

MPR News reporters also joined the program to bring you the most updated information and a preview of the upcoming legislative session, which begins Tuesday.
