Millions of kids around the world dream of lacing up a pair of Jordans and taking the court as an NBA player. Of course, the reality is that most of them won’t become professional basketball players. That was Jon Savitt’s fate. The Minnesota-based comedian aspired to be a star basketball player, but instead — he wrote a comedy show about it.

Savitt’s show “King of the Court” debuts at the Phoenix Theater in Minneapolis next Thursday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. He joined host Cathy Wurzer to talk about his story and what it was like to develop a comedy show during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tickets to “King of the Court” can be purchased on the Phoenix Theater’s website.
