Thousands of homes and businesses are without power across Minnesota Friday morning as a late-winter storm wallops the state. Across the north: Heavy snow and blizzard conditions overnight. Parts of the North Shore are forecast to receive more than a foot of snow by Friday afternoon.
For central and southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities: Howling winds Friday morning. The National Weather Service reported a 70-mile-per-hour gust near Benson and 71 mph near Redwood Falls.
Another major storm is set to bring heavy snow to the region this weekend. It’s currently aimed at southern Minnesota, with the potential to bring more than a foot of snow to some areas.
