Minnesota beaches are closed due to bacteria, toxic algae. Here's where and what to look for.
As the weather gets hotter and more humid, it’s tempting to take a dip into the nearest body of water to cool off. But several Minnesota beaches have seen a rise in bacteria levels that can make people or animals sick. 
West Nile virus detected in mosquitoes across Twin Cities metro
The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District reported that Culex tarsalis mosquitoes, which are primarily responsible for the human transmission of West Nile virus, are present in some of the highest numbers ever recorded for July.

A major bike race may bring hundreds of cyclists to La Crescent in the southeastern corner of Minnesota. The 2025 USA Cycling Gravel National Championship race is planned for Sept. 20.
Authorities continue search for bear that seriously wounded woman in northwest Wisconsin
The Wisconsin DNR said it appears the bear was a female with a cub nearby. But the DNR said preliminary findings suggest the bear exhibited not defensive behavior — but rather “a sustained series of aggressive behaviors towards the victim.”
Woman seriously injured by bear in northwest Wisconsin
The Wisconsin DNR said the bear wounded a 69-year-old woman in Barron County on Saturday afternoon. Authorities said the woman was seriously injured but was able to call 911.
