Scientists from the National Park Service are conducting an eagle survey along the Mississippi River and elsewhere, collecting blood and feather samples from eaglets to measure contaminants the eaglets ingest from their prey.

Comic book lovers, creators and dealers gathered for the Minnesota Comic Book Association's 26th annual SpringCon at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on May 17-18, 2014. The weekend event was a mix of character costumes, comic art and a comic book marketplace.

For bacon lovers in Duluth, Thursday was a chance to try a host of bacon-flavored treats. More than 500 people came to the University of Minnesota Duluth's Kirby Ballroom, to sample dishes cooked up by Twin Ports restaurants and bakeries at the inaugural "Baconpalooza."

Seven contestants, ages 62-89, competed Saturday for the Ms. Senior Minnesota title. That the pageant happened at all was the result of a passion for the contest, and the value of senior women, by the organizer, 2006 title winner Melodee Bahr.
