Obamas mark King's birthday with volunteer outing
President Barack Obama evoked Martin Luther King Jr.'s own words about public service Monday as Obama and his family celebrated the life of the late civil rights leader with a volunteer project.

About 2,000 community and business leaders gathered Monday morning at the Minneapolis Convention Center to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. Human rights activist Naomi Tutu, the daughter of Nobel Peace Prize winner Desmond Tutu, spoke at the breakfast and called on the crowd to finish the work still undone.
MLK biographer Taylor Branch on Dr. King's legacy
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Taylor Branch will deliver the 2012 Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Lecture at Gustavus Adolphus College. Branch is considered the preeminent biographer of Martin Luther King Jr. and has written a trilogy of books that document the Civil Rights era.
