Giants beat Patriots 21-17 to win the Super Bowl
Eli Manning and the Giants one-upped Tom Brady and the Patriots again, coming back with a last-minute touchdown to beat New England 21-17 Sunday night for New York's fourth Super Bowl title. It was a rematch of the 2008 NFL championship, when Manning led New York past New England to ruin the Patriots' bid for a perfect season.
New Vikings stadium plan may roll out this week
The proposal would locate a Vikings stadium in the parking lot east of the existing Metrodome. Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission chariman Ted Mondale says the new plan would mean that the Vikings may only need to play a handful of games at the University of Minnesota.

Lindsey Vonn earns 50th World Cup win
A career milestone and a rare family reunion. All of which left Lindsey Vonn in tears, and it made for a perfect day. Vonn captured her 50th World Cup victory Saturday, winning the downhill on the demanding Kandahar course with temperatures plunging to minus 13.
U of M's AD says he wanted to keep his job a bit longer
University of Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi will step down from the job this summer. The university announced yesterday that Maturi's last day will be June 30, 2012, when his current contract runs out. After that, he'll remain on staff at the university for another year, as a special assistant to U of M president Eric Kaler.
University recalls accomplishments as Maturi steps down
The man who has led the University of Minnesota's intercollegiate athletic program for the last decade announced Thursday that he is stepping down this summer. Joel Maturi said it was time for him to leave the high profile position.
