U of M athletics director on the search for a new football coach

The University of Minnesota is looking for a new football coach after firing head coach Tim Brewster on Sunday. Gopher athletics director Joel Maturi talked with MPR's Tom Crann about why he made that decision, and what's next for the football program.

Gophers fire football coach Tim Brewster

The University of Minnesota has fired football coach Tim Brewster. Athletic director Joel Maturi made the announcement Sunday morning, one day after the Golden Gophers lost to Purdue to fall to 1-6 in Brewster's fourth season.

Woods sparks USC to 32-21 win over Minnesota

Robert Woods returned a kick 97 yards for a touchdown to jumpstart USC's sluggish offense and the 18th-ranked Trojans pulled away for a 32-21 victory over Minnesota on Saturday.

South Dakota stuns Minnesota Gophers 41-38

Minnesota kicked off a challenging home schedule with the one game it just couldn't lose. But the Golden Gophers simply couldn't catch Dante Warren and South Dakota, losing to the Coyotes 41-38 Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.

Insight Bowl an important appearance for Gophers

The Minnesota Gophers football team is in Tempe, Ariz., getting ready to take on the Iowa State Cyclones in Thursday's Insight Bowl. The Insight isn't considered a major college bowl game, but it is worth a lot, financially and otherwise, to the U of M football team.
