A Welcome Sun

Finally the sun!

After four dreary days, the sun returns today around Minnesota. That's good news for waterlogged fields and lawns. Excellent drying conditions will include a bright sun, a good breeze, low humidity around 30 percent, and mild temps in the 70s later today.

NWS Twin Cities Weather Story

The sun will be bright and welcome today, but not as potent as a few months ago. Today at solar noon, the sun's angle above the horizon is about 43 degrees. That's the equivalent of March 11, and we're now getting only about half as much total solar energy as we did on the summer solstice on June 21.

That means it's harder to burn off low clouds and fog this time of year.

All that makes no difference to me today. I plan to spend a little time sampling and enjoying the welcome sunshine today!
