Radisson reports theft of guests' credit card information

Minneapolis-based Radisson Hotels & Resorts says criminals electronically broke into computer systems at several of its properties and may have taken guests' credit and debit card information.

The attacks occurred between November of last year and May of this year, and the company says it doesn't know how many customers may have been affected. Susan Grant of the Consumer Federation of America advises consumers to review their accounts for charges they don't recognize.

"Crooks often try to sneak small charges in on your credit card, hoping you won't notice them," she said. "Scrutinize your statements very carefully and look for anything unusual."

Credit card holders generally don't have to pay for any unauthorized charges as long as they report the charges within 60 days of receiving a bill. But debit card holders can be on the hook for fraudulent charges if they fail to report them promptly.
