This year, we are marking the 150th anniversary of the U.S-Dakota War of 1862, one of the most significant and controversal chapters in Minnesota history.

The Minnesota Historical Society has a new exhibit that explores not only what happened during the war, but important events leading up to the war and its aftermath.

Morning Edition host Phil Picardi interviewed Kate Roberts, Senior Exhibit Developer at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul where the exhibit is located. She told him that this is a challenging subject to tackle, but one that people in Minnesota need to understand.
