Two parts of BWCA reopened after fire
The U.S. Forest Service has re-opened two parts of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness that had been closed because of wildfires.
Crews were successful in suppressing fires near Parley Lake and Hoist Bay over the weekend, officials said.
However, the canoe route along the Canadian border remains closed along with the area surrounding Ottertrack, Knife, and adjacent lakes while an estimated 525-acre fire continues to burn on the Canadian side.
The Forest Service says the fire danger remains very high, and campfires are allowed only between 7 p.m. and midnight.
