KARE 11 reporter Boyd Huppert's profile of the friendship between the World War II vet and the the kid in Farmington has swept across the nation, a reminder that we're still a people that love a love story.
"I think a lot of people can relate to how much they love their grandparents or somebody special in their life," the young man's mother tells Huppert, who has revisited the pals.
"I think people are just craving good news," she said.
