President Obama got overshadowed last evening by his former employee and his former campaign opponent.
Jay Carney, his former spokesman and now a senior political commentator for CNN, got hit hard by Sen. John McCain over the question of whether the Obama administration should have left troops in Iraq to support the government.
"We had it won!" McCain declared.
The exchange was evocative of the Gore Vidal-William F. Buckley debates during the 1968 Democratic National Convention, one of the first times when TV commentators called each other names, although it seemed classier back then.
