Most communities have tried everything to get pedestrians not to cross against the light. As we noted in this space a week or so ago, it's a lost cause in St. Paul and sooner or later, someone's going to get killed.
It's not just here, of course. People simply can't be bothered waiting for the light to turn to allow them to cross the street safely.
Which is why this might be a brilliant idea -- entertain them while they're waiting.
Smart, the company that built the "smart car," tried it out in Portugal as part of an ad campaign for their car.
